30 Poems in 30 Days Part 2 Number 2 – Headaches

If you’d like to read more of my work, check out my poetry ebook here.

Headaches

I have terrible torturous pains
Spiraling fiery flames
Playing a risky game
With only myself to blame

Hope turns to ash
As the candle flickers in a flash
Titans of a weakened conscience clash
I cannot tell how long conscience will last

The cold steel warms my temple
As I worship at the altar of this temple
Of repentance as an example
Of what happened to those whose hearts are trampled

A finger’s twitch
An empty chamber’s click
I find brief respite
As the headaches stop for a bit

Yet I must keep going
That is the sisters’ wish

Until that time I don’t hear
The empty chamber’s click
