In The Morning – Thirty Poems in Thirty Days # 15

I’m doing a month of poetry, one new poem each day for thirty days. Here’s number fifteen of thirty.

In The Morning

All the shadows that growl in the night
Cower in their hidden dens
In the morning

All the demons that take hold
Of our souls are driven away
In the morning

Quiet thoughts of mourning
Are replaced by hopeful songs of birds
In the morning

The cold drought of the hollow night
Is replaced by the glistening dew of dawn
In the morning

The crippling pain of every fear
Is replaced by the warmth of a friend so near
In the morning

I close my eyes and stifle my tears
Knowing that my eyes will be dried by mercy
In the morning
