Turn the Lights Off – Thirty Poems in Thirty Days # 14

I’m doing a month of poetry, one new poem each day for thirty days. Here’s number fourteen of thirty.

Turn the Lights Off

A warm whisper
From a cool silhouette
Pressed up against me

A brief shiver
There is no rest
For our insecurities

Like arrows waiting in the quiver
Like a terrible test
Like navigating an unsettled sea

No
Simple and strong
Defiant and decisive
I want to see all of her

Perfection lies
Staring us in the face
Given to us in all its grace
But all we ever want

Is to turn the lights off
