The Horizon – Thirty Poems in Thirty Days # 10

I’m doing a month of poetry, one new poem each day for thirty days. Here’s number ten of thirty.

The Horizon

The waves crash
Against the stone pedestal
On which I stand
Staring
At the slate skies that stretch
Oh! How they stretch!
So endlessly in front of me

Snowflakes snake slowly down
Like ash from a burning kingdom
That sits above
Indifferent

The salty foam rises and falls
Below
The faulty hopes upon which I once called
Are no more

So I stand
Listening to the ebb and flow
Of time and its masters
All around
