Clear Skies – Thirty Poems in Thirty Days # 4

I’m doing a month of poetry, one new poem each day for thirty days. Here’s number three of thirty.

Clear Skies

The wind whispers
Through the feathers of my hair
My will withers
But so do all my fears

The cold steel circle
Presses its brand
Deeper into my temple
Given strength by my own hand

Here I am
Wavering in the beautiful sunlight
Standing in this wasting land
Trouble nowhere in sight

Brief mentions of clouds
Float along above

A rumble of thunder calls from the hills
I slip deeper into the peaceful still

My index finger twitches
I close my eyes
And all I see behind these warm eyelids
Are clear skies
