A Shadow – Thirty Poems in Thirty Days # 3

I’m doing a month of poetry, one new poem each day for thirty days. Here’s number three of thirty.

The Shadow

She floats along on these empty streets
Hungry for just one thing
Wanting only to be seen
Thirsty simply to be something

She walks these crumbling paths
Nursing a desire to have eyes
Land upon her and see that
Which the light hides

While the rest of the city sleeps
She burns holes into her feet
And while justice’s sword remains sheathed
Her resolve grows weak

She collapses on the chilly ground
Falling an infinite distance
She disappears into history, never to be found
All that remains is silence
