There is a common misconception that thankfulness is the same as an absence of desire. People often think that if they are truly thankful for what they have, they will not want more. This is the subject of today’s thought.
Thought of the Day
It is important to never take what you have for granted. It could all disappear tomorrow, and the truth is, you often don’t know what you have until it’s gone. This does not mean, however, that you should not strive for more. After all, drive toward more is a characteristic which should be prized. The problem occurs when you want things for the wrong reasons or when you want them only for the sake of wanting them. You should strive to attain more for yourself and for the people you love. Having the drive to build upon what you have accomplished does not entail that you don’t appreciate what you have.
For you readers, be sure to embrace what you have and understand its value. At the same time, don’t be afraid to feel and use desire. It is a natural drive, and it is very positive if channeled in the proper directions.
