I want white water rafting yesterday with a good buddy of mine. We drove out to Ohiopyle, PA, and traveled about 7 miles down the Youghegeny river in an inflatable raft with two other people and two guides. It was a great experience and a lot of fun, though it was not as thrilling as I had expected. Next time, I am definitely trying the expert run instead of the intermediate. Though the intermediate is definitely a perfect choice for any first timers who want to try it out 🙂
The entire trip contained twenty some rapids, some bigger than others, and several stretches of calm water. We learned about the river, and even saw some interesting wildlife. The boat didn’t flip at all, and nobody was tossed out. Although, we did decide to jump out and go for a swim during one of the calm stretches of the river. The water was cool and refreshing, and we could not have asked for a better day. We even stopped halfway at a rocky area and had lunch. Since Ohiopyle is a farmer’s town, the ingredients for our sandwiches were fresh and incredibly tasty, much better than what you would find in Cleveland (maybe excepting Westside Market).
Overall, the trip was great, and for only $60, it wasn’t too hard on the wallet either. I would definitely recommend it.
