30 Poems in 30 Days #28 and #29 – Almost There

The Horizon

Darkness settles
The night extends its cold tendrils
On the shadowed horizon

Light springs
Each day’s new beckoning
On the lighted horizon

All things begin
All things end
Upon that infinite horizon

Thump thump
Goes the throb
Forgetting to stop

Thump thump
Begins the day
Thump thump
When I hit the hay

An endless chatter
The thundering rattle

Between my ears
Behind my eyes
It comes near
I hear their cries

Thump thump
The blood rushes
A thimble fills
